Stormhawks by GarryHenderson Stormhawks by GarryHenderson
Another quickie practice with minimal colors. These are a lotta fun.

Tried to stick with a split complimentary palette this time instead of a tetrad like the one from last night. Was a bit more tricky trying to only use 3 colors instead of 4.

Nice. If there were ever a show's characters to practice colours on, this would be it. Piper's my fav character, it's almost like you based the colours on her hair. ;p

Thanks MB. I'm just grabbing the color wheel and trying to stick to the colors it tells me instead of trying to use regular colors and make it moody. I'm hoping it'll help me learn more about how certain colors work together.

Very nice.

My only suggestion would be to try using a lighter shade to each line art on the ships in the background to add some depth. The line art colors right now are too equal in strength, and seem too similar. It would also help separate that tangent of the wing touching her head.

Yeah, I get pretty lazy on these since they're just palette practice. If I was actually doing it as a pinup, I woulda played with the lineart and atmospheric perspective a lot more.

I'm still impressed you were practicing this technique and I like what you've done here. It's not lazy in my opinion to try something new or old.
Thanks for posting your trial pieces.
I enjoy your work.
